A beautifully restored Rosewood Erhu with a unique design donated by the Music Director of the Toronto Chinese Orchestra (TCO). The Erhu is a traditional Chinese string instrument. It consists of a long, slender neck made of wood and a small resonating chamber. It has two strings and a bow that is trapped between them. The Erhu is capable of producing happy chirpy sounds, as well as the most sorrowful sounds. It is often used to perform traditional Chinese music, folk songs, and classical compositions. Nowadays, it has also fused into popular and contemporary music genres.
A member from the Toronto Chinese Orchestra has restored this Erhu. Unlike traditional construction, the neck does not go all the way through the sound box; rather, a mortise and tenon joint is used, which is reinforced by butting a matching piece of wood against the base of neck and bolting it from the underside of the sound box. White accents and inlays are used on the neck and sound box, contrasting with the dark, matte-finish rosewood. These features convey the impression of a sail boat.

Please note that if items are not claimed by Jun 8 2023, the seller will assume the winner is going to give up the rights to claim the item.
