2012 Western Star 4800 Stone Slinger Heavy-Duty Aggregate Placement Truck; 2012 Multicat Aluminum Box & Remote Control Location: Owen Sound Manufacturer: Western Star (Chassis) / Bay-Lynx (Slinger Body) Model: 4800 / Multicat Year: 2012
Current Reported Status:
Kilometers: 600,230 KM (as stated or buyer to verify).
Condition: Reported in “Great” condition; was working up until September 2025.
Safety: Not safetied at time of sale; safety expired September 2025. The seller reports it was safetied every year prior.
Tires: All-around tires at 75–80%. Front tires are new as of June 2025 (taken off-road in Sept 2025). Rear tires recently passed safety inspection.
Maintenance: New belts installed in January 2025 and September 2025.
Key Components: Features a stiff axle and a 2012 Multicat aluminum box with radio remote control.
Axle: Stiffed Axle
Camera: In box camera
Manufacturer’s Original Specifications:
The following data represents the general engineering standards for the 2012 Western Star 4800 and Multicat Slinger. As a used unit, condition is as is, where is and may require general maintenance.
Chassis Engine: Typically equipped with a Detroit DD13 (12.8L) or Cummins ISL/ISC engine (approx. 350–470 HP).
Transmission: Often paired with an Eaton Fuller manual (10, 13, or 18-speed) or Allison Automatic.
Slinger Body: Bay-Lynx Multicat aluminum hopper (lighter weight for increased payload).
Conveyor System: 19-foot high-speed throw conveyor with a 250° working pivot radius.
Placement Reach: Capable of placing material up to 100+ feet from the rear of the truck.
Control System: Fully proportional wireless radio remote for conveyor speed, direction, and height.
Frame: Heavy-duty vocational steel frame with a 109-inch BBC (Bumper to Back of Cab) for maneuverability.
Key Features & Considerations: AS REPORTED BY THE SELLER
Remote Control Efficiency: Includes a radio remote to control the aluminum box, allowing the operator to place material with precision from outside the cab.
Recent Rubber: The front tires were replaced in June 2025 and have seen very limited use since the truck was taken out of service in September.
Operational Maintenance: The seller has maintained a regular safety schedule and recently replaced belts to ensure the slinger mechanism remains functional.
Aluminum Advantage: The Multicat aluminum box is designed to reduce tare weight, maximizing the legal amount of aggregate you can haul per load.
Ideal for: Concrete contractors, landscape suppliers, and quarry operators. This unit is specifically engineered for precision backfilling of foundations, spreading topsoil, or placing drainage stone in hard-to-reach areas where a standard dump truck cannot tip.
The Western Star & Multicat Advantage: The Western Star 4800 is a legendary vocational chassis known for its “quiet cab” and rugged durability in harsh construction environments. When paired with a Bay-Lynx Multicat body—the industry standard for stone slingers—it creates a versatile tool that can replace a backhoe and crew, placing 20 tons of material in as little as 20 minutes.

Keith Stoltz’s first career was as a farm equipment dealer who understood that sitting equipment costs money!
To find a home for aging equipment, he began hosting live auctions at his dealership. With no online option available, he could only reach local people, who had to come in person to place their bids on stuff. And come back again if they had been outbid.
In 2021, Keith leveraged today’s technology to launch a better solution for buyers and sellers: Quickbids.Biz online auctions.
After receiving seller feedback, Keith realized he needed an option for dealers and businesses that didn’t have enough products to host their own auction, so Consign.Bid launched in 2024. Sellers could now join other sellers in an auction and sell stuff..
All of these efforts bring products to bidders who can shop from anywhere with an internet connection to find deals on equipment they need to run their properties or operate their businesses.
